- Cut the sample from part for which the Macrostructure has to be checked.
- Remove the heat effected area if cut by gas.
- Belt grind the sample to remove any surface imperfection, taking care that sample should not get heated up during grinding.
- Make sure that oil and dirt is removed from the test piece.
- Keep the sample in plastic container & add 50& solutions or commercial acid & water, Refer IS:7739 (Part V), ASTM E 340-00/ASTM E-340-00/ ASTM E-381-01). Maintain temperature of bath (71-82°c for 15-60 minutes).
- Clean with water and dry with methanol.
- Observe the structure
- Accept if the observed Macrostructure confirms to the specification.
- Refer Standard: IS: 7739 (Part V) 1976, ASTM E 340-00:1999, ASTM E: 381, IS:11371-1985.
